Albion skipper Dean Hammond says he is not surprised by the success of his old club Leyton Orient under ex-Seagull Martin Ling.

Hammond returns to Brisbane Road tomorrow (Saturday), where he had a spell on loan when they were an average League Two side.

Since then former Albion loan midfielder Ling has steered the East Londoners to promotion and now into a lofty position in League One after surviving a battle against relegation last season.

Hammond said: "It doesn't surprise me. When I was there Martin was very enthusisastic and you could see he really wanted to do well.

"They have got a good chairman (Barry Hearn) with some money, they have built the ground up, so they were always a team who I think were going to push on. They are a different team this year, because they have brought a lot of players in."

The Albion players are well aware that a fourth successive away win in the League would lift them above Orient on goal difference.

"The boys were talking about five games back that if we went on a decent run we would go into this game being near them or being able to catch them," Hammond said.

"That is what we wanted to do to make it an exciting game for us and for Sky. We want to get promoted this year and if we keep looking solid and playing some good stuff I think that can happen."
