Worthing maintained their play-off challenge in Ryman division one south but they left it late at home to Whitstable Town.

The match appeared to be heading for a 1-1 draw until the Rebels scored twice in the last two minutes to secure a 3-1 win.

They trailed at half-time but Matt Phelan's teasing cross forced an own goal to level matters.

With two minutes remaining Ben Andrews fired Worthing ahead and then substitute Terry Dodd netted with his first touch after coming on.

Joint-manager Danny Bloor said: "We should have wrapped up the game long before that. I am happy but we mustn't get carried away."

The Rebels gave a debut to Mark Pulling, who rejoined the club on Friday from Burgess Hill.

New Burgess Hill manager Jamie Howell had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Ashford Town after leading until the 89th minute.

Lloyd Cotton fired the Hillians into a sixth-minute lead and it remained that way until Mark Lovell struck in the dying seconds.

Horsham YMCA remain bottom after losing 3-1 at home to Met Police with their consolation an own goal.

Horsham have been rocked by the loss of John Westcott two weeks before their big FA Cup second round tie with Swansea.

The former Albion winger has linked up with former Hornets assistant-manager Tommy Warrilow at Tonbridge Angels, where he has signed a two-year contract.

The popular winger made 169 appearances for Horsham, scoring 25 goals, and was player of the year in 2004-05.

Hornets lost 2-0 away to Hendon in an early kick off in the premier division yesterday.

Hastings United also lost, 3-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon with former Albion striker Daniel Webb scoring two of the goals.

Scott Kirkwood fired Hastings ahead on 18 minutes with his first goal for the club but the visitors levelled ten minutes before the break with a disputed penalty from Mark de Bolla.

Webb put the Dons in front on 68 minutes and wrapped up victory in front of a crowd of 1,536 at the Pilot Field with a second 11 minutes from time.
