Horsham YMCA boss John Suter admitted it is hard to attract players to his rock bottom side after they lost 3-1 to seventh-placed Met Police at Gorings Mead.
He said: "We need to bring in a couple of players who are better than what we have but it is difficult because they take a look at our position and don't want to come.
"All we can do is keep working and hope a catastrophic season turns. We want to turn a circle of defeat into a circle of success.
"What is encouraging is we are only six points behind what we were at the same stage last season when we ended up ninth."
YM were hit by a hat-trick from centre-back Simon Gregory after Andy Ottley had given the hosts an interval lead.
Suter said: "All their goals were from free-kicks. We didn't defend well. They were better than us."
