Sussex's big two are in great shape ahead of key league matches.

Australian No. 8 Peter Altona impressed on his debut as Worthing Raiders enjoyed a 41-0 home win over Basingstoke.

The result sets things up nicely for the top-of-the-table London One clash at Richmond, who remained unbeaten after winning 29-15 at Old Albanian.

Altona, who has played National Two rugby at Blaydon, was a real force breaking off the base of the scrum, scoring from one superb 35-yard charge and setting up a try for Will Harris.

Ryan Storer, Simon Alcott and the outstanding Dan Roberts also crossed from among the forwards.

Wing Ben Coulson scored two tries and added three conversions.

Raiders rested star backs Tom Beim and Duncan Taylor ahead of the trip to the Athletic Ground.

Meanwhile, Haywards Heath have won seven in a row going into their make-or-break league match.

Heath won 44-0 at home to Maidstone and are now preparing for a trip to Chobham, the side just behind them in the promotion race.

The top three in London Two South all kept cleansheets. Leders Jersey won 32-0 at Wimbledon and Chobham were 42-0 victors at Sevenoaks.

Heath played some great rugby at times, especially when Paul Fleming scored following a super move started by Simon Fifield.

Wayne Maki grabbed the only first-hal try, after a break from the outstanding Guy Cook, as the Sussex side led just 8-0 at the break.

Sio Mauganai, Dave Wattam, Chris Berghan and James Trevis all got over after the interval.

Jarrett finished the game with four conversions and two penalties for 14 points.
