Horsham's hopes of an FA Cup giant-killing have been given a massive boost after Swansea were plunged into a goalkeeping crisis.

Hornets take on the League One leaders in a sell-out second round clash at the Atspeed Stadium tonight.

The Welsh visitors are sweating on the fitness of regular No.1 Dorus De Vries after he damaged his knee in a 1-0 win against Hartlepool on Tuesday night. His understudy, David Knight, injured ankle ligaments in the warm-up for the same game and has been ruled out for three weeks.

Results of a scan on De Vries' injury showed no serious problems yesterday but the Swans are ready to ask for special dispensation to sign a replacement on an emergency loan if the Dutchman is ruled out. They have until noon today to complete a temporary transfer.

Swansea are already without two key players for the big game.

Top scorer Paul Anderson, who is on loan from Liverpool, is definitely out with a dead leg and tough-tackling midfielder Ferrie Bodde is sidelined with an ankle problem.

Swans manager Roberto Martinez said: "We've got a few options. We've been following a few players just in case this situation would happen and so we're prepared.

"But I'm confident Dorus will be fit. He's a special character, full of beans and wants to play."

Horsham's goalkeeping problems have eased after Paul Seuke felt no ill effects in training from the virus that ruled him out of last week's league game against Harrow. Seuke will replace regular No.1 Alan Mansfield, who is serving a one-match ban.

But the Hornets have concerns over the fitness of influential midfielder Lee Carney after he was sent home from training this week with a virus.

Manager John Maggs said: "He has gone down with the lurgy and couldn't train. We had it with the goalkeeper last Saturday and it seems to be going around the camp. I think it is a 48 hour virus and we just have to hope he is okay.

"Paul (Seuke) trained and is a bit weak but he should be fine for the game."

Probable teams: Horsham: Seuke, Myall, Graves, Hemsley, Brake, Carney, Mingle, Taylor, Charman, Austin, Rook.
