Crowborough will go into new year undefeated in the league after thumping hosts St Francis Rangers 5-0 in their last game of 2007.

A Wayne Clarke hat-trick and Ross Treleaven brace saw Borough cruise to victory and keep on the heels of leaders Whitehawk with the benefit of six games in hand.

Manager Harry Smith said: "We're going into the new year undefeated in the league and have done well in the FA Vase and FA Cup.

"It's been a great first half to the season and we now have to keep that going in the second half. We have a tough January coming up but if we can get through that we should do well."

He added "It was a five-star performance. We drummed into into the players that it wasn't an easy place to go and the response was superb. Our passing was a joy to watch."

Rangers had a player sent off for two bookable offences in the second half.

Whitehawk manager Russel Bromage says he is just delighted to be in the top half let alone leading the table after they sunk whipping boys Sidley 4-2 at Gullivers.

Tommy Pattenden (two), Toby Phillips and Ryan Bradley struck for Hawks while Sidley were level at one stage after goals by Shae Spreafico and Callum Wooler.

Bromage said: "With the injuries we have had this season I am just pleased to be in the top half. The lads have done a good job to keep us top."

Wick jumped back into third after bouncing back from two defeats with a 4-0 win over flu-hit Pagham in which Scott Murfin, Steve Boston, with a penalty and a header, and substitute Dominic Shepherd netted.

Wick joint boss Mick Catlin said: "It was important we got back to winning ways and I am happy to be third going into the new year."

Hailsham won 4-0 at Chichester thanks to two goals apiece from Simon Stevens and Dan Leach while Three Bridges came from behind to beat Selsey 2-1, Hassan Nyang getting their 84th-minute winner.

Ringmer's Marc Whiteman scored his 27th goal of the season at Worthing United before Gavin Jones rescued a point with a 41st-minute equaliser.

Rye caretaker boss Clive Taylor celebrated his second win on the trot since Dave Shearing's exit as his side edged into the semi-finals of the Sussex RUR Cup with a 2-1 win over high-fliers Hassocks.

Duncan McArthur's superb late strike sealed the win after Robins' Laurence Robinson had cancelled out Justin Jirbandey's opener.

Taylor said: "They were the strongest team left in the competition so we're made up with the win. It's also the first time we have ever beat Hassocks."

There were a feast of goals in division two with Sam McCarthy scoring four as Lingfield closed the gap on leaders East Grinstead with a 6-1 win at Midhurst.
