Lewes manager Steven King knows his side could be up against it as they prepare for one of their toughest trips of the season.

The Rooks conceded top spot in Blue Square south to Eastbourne Borough in midweek.

They are currently two points behind the new leaders, having played the same number of games, but could be further behind by the time they visit play-off pushing Newport County on Sunday.

While others have made Lewes favourites for the title, King has insisted all along the play-offs were their No. 1 goal and, while he was disappointed to be knocked off the top, he has praised Eastbourne Borough's consistency.

He said: "It isn't always the best team that wins the league but the most consistent team and at the moment the most consistent team is Eastbourne Borough.

"I expect Eastbourne to beat Cambridge tomorrow which would mean we go into Sunday's game five points behind.

"We will give it our best shot but it will be tough. Newport have only lost once at home this season so a draw would be good but we are going there for the win.

"My objective at the start of the season was to make the play-offs and anything else would be a bonus. That is what any manager will tell you."

Jay Conroy misses out through suspension so Lewis Hamilton comes in as a straight replacement.
