Bognor will continue their search for a new striker as they look to pull further away from danger.

Former England under-18 international Saheed Sankoh made his debut up front as the Rocks recorded a crucial 2-0 win at fellow strugglers Sutton United.

Sankoh, who began his career at Fulham and has also played for Woking, signed on loan from Kingstonian on the eve of the game to stand in for the injured Luke Nightingale and suspended Dan Beck.

Beck is back from his ban next week while Nightingale is close to recovering from a broken collarbone but joint boss Michael Birmingham is still keen to add extra firepower.

He said: "Saheed did okay. It was hard for him as we only brought him in on Friday so he hadn't met any of the players before. We're not sure how long he is with us for but we will still be looking for a striker and something may happen later today.

"It was a massive result on Saturday but we cannot afford to relax yet. We need another three wins to be sure of safety but I want us to set our targets higher than that and beat the 51 points we achieved last season.

"It is a big ask to take 20 points from our last ten games but we don't want the season to peter out now and get dragged back into trouble."

Andy Pearson gave the Rocks the lead in the 32nd minute when he volleyed home Scott Harris' corner from ten yards and Mark Knee doubled the advantage five minutes after the break after bursting clear of the defence.

Birmingham added: "The conditions were awful but we did what we had to do. They were lively in the opening stages but once we had settled down and taken the lead we controlled the rest of the game."
