East Grinstead boss Steve Norris blasted his players despite seeing them strengthen their position at the top of County League division two.

The Wasps have a six-point lead with games in hand on their promotion rivals after drawing 2-2 at Sidlesham where Tobi Hutchinson's 90th-minute goal capped a second half fightback after the visitors had trailed 2-0.

But Norris pulled no punches. He said: "A team at the top of the table with a record like ours should not be putting in performances like that - we were terrible.

"Sidlesham worked hard and deserved to win. It was our worst display of the season."

The hosts led thanks to first-half goals from Lee Mullin and Max Delahunty but Adam Dart pulled one back before veteran Hutchinson's close-range leveller.

Norris added: "We put a lot of effort in without any reward in the League Cup semi against Ringmer last week and looked knackered but that is no excuse. We got away with it."

Shock of the day saw Southwick hand third-placed Rustington only their fourth defeat of the season with a 2-0 win.

Goals from Chris Bowyer and Dean Venton's eighth in as many games lifted Wickers out of the bottom two while Rustington are now without a win in five league games and anxiously looking over their shoulders.

The promotion chasers are bunching up again after Peacehaven, Littlehampton and Crawley Down all won to strengthen their bid for a top-three finish.

The prolific Richard Watton bagged a first-half hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 31 as Peacehaven won 4-1 at Broadbridge Heath.

Adam New was Crawley Down's matchwinner at home to Mile Oak while Littlehampton virtually ended Wealden's slim hopes of a surge up the table with a 2-0 win.

Southwick are replaced in the drop zone by Lancing who lost 3-2 at Steyning when Chris Duffett's brace proved decisive. Tom Pickford was also on target with Tony Miles and Craig Fullerton replying.

Duncan Jones got the only goal as Westfield dented Midhurst's promotion hopes with a 1-0 win while Storrington remain in relegation trouble after they crashed to a 4-1 home defeat to doomed Pease Pottage.
