Horsham want Bognor defender Duncan Jupp to become their player-coach.
Jupp, 33, played in the Premier League for Wimbledon and includes Fulham, Gillingham, Luton, Southend and Notts County among his former clubs.
Manager John Maggs said: "Jack Pearce and Duncan both know we are keen to take him."
Former Albion defender Stuart Myall is set to join Ryman premier division rivals Tonbridge Angels, who are managed by ex-Hornets assistant Tommy Warrilow.
Maggs added: "I understand Stuart's position. He works in London and has just got a promotion. He wouldn't have the time to spare with us groundsharing at Worthing next season.
"I recommended Tooting and Mitcham but that doesn't seem to have worked out and Tommy has come in for him."
