Hastings United were poised to sign striker Scott Ramsay last night.
The big frontman has quit Blue Square premier new boys Eastbourne Borough after turning down a contract and was set to finalise a deal with his home-town club after meeting with chairman Dave Walter.
Walter said: "It's a real coup to get Scott and we have had to fight off competition from Blue Square south sides.
"The money they have to offer is in a different universe to us but he's from Hastings and that has been a major factor in him coming to the Pilot Field."
The former Albion frontman will join another ex-Seagull at the Pilot Field as goalkeeper Chris May has also signed to plug the gap left by the departure of Lee Worgan.
