Bexhill continue to lead Sussex League division two despite being thwarted in an exciting draw at Steyning.

Rivals Lewes Priory and Littlehampton enjoyed outright victories as did Roffey and Pulborough.

Steyning were put in by Bexhill and reached 225-7 declared with 81 from Nick Colley and 47 from Matt Sewell as Chris Topp took 5-35.

Malcolm Johnson made 68 and Sean Austin 50 in the chase as Ian Simpson took 3-51 and Dave Mates 3-36 but the visitors closed on 218-9, eight runs short of victory at stumps.

Lewes Priory found it easy at home to winless bottom club Sidley.

They dismissed their guests for 94 as Josh Burrows took 4-23 and Tom Sharpe 3-28. The hosts then eased to 98-1 with Ed McGregor (48) and skipper Michael Murray (34 not out) on song.

Littlehampton returned to winning ways with a two-wicket triumph at home to Worthing after dismissing their visitors for 181. John Kaye hit 59 as Benn Challen took 4-61.

Chris Kirkham (68) and Chris Heberlein (44 not out) top scored as Littlehampton knocked off the runs despite Chris Mansell's 4-50.

Roffey enjoyed a six-wicket win against St James, who they dismissed for 247 after young Adam Davies made 89.

In reply the home side hit 248-4 from only 39 overs with Aaron Jeal making 137 and George Fleming 79 not out.

The remaining game saw Pulborough complete the double against inconsistent Haywards Heath, who were restricted to 190-7 declared after being put in.

Tom Dowdall hit 78 and Steve Kingcome 52 not out as the visitors' Rohit Jagota took 3-9 in 12 overs and Matt Crump 3-59.

The home side reached their target after good knocks by Paul Allen (74) and Jagota (59 not out).

Hayden James (3-41) and Charlie Dowdall (3-32) were the pick of the bowlers.
