Horsham have beefed up their strike force by signing Jean-Michel Sigere from Eastbourne Borough.

Sigere has joined on a three-month loan with a view to a permanent deal and makes his debut in tomorrow’s FA Cup third qualifying round tie at home to Paulton Rovers.

Hornets’ boss John Maggs is also trying to sign a defender from another Blue Square premier side in time for the game.

Sigere has been plagued by injuries since joining Borough in the summer and Maggs is hoping he can recapture the form he showed last season when he scored three goals in a month-long loan.

Maggs said: “He’s a quality player and we’re delighted he’s back at the club. He has had a few injury problems but I think he will give us the punch we need.”

Lee Carney (foot) could return tomorrow and Maggs expects Gary Charman and Sam Page to be fit by the end of the month.

He added: “There have been a lot of questions as to why our form has nosedived but it’s simple – we have lost our best players. I guarantee we will climb the table when they come back.”

Maggs watched Paulton lose 2-0 to Thatcham in an FA Trophy replay on Tuesday. He said: “They have got some really good players but it is a winnable tie and having Sigere available will be a big plus.”
