Nathan Russell could return to shore up Hastings’ leaky defence at home to Boreham Wood tomorrow.

Russell is fit again after missing ten games with a hamstring injury and United could do with him after letting in nine goals in their last two games. They also have the second-worst defensive record in the Ryman premier with 39 goals conceded so far.

Boss John Lambert said: “It’s not hard to work out where our problems lie. We have scored six goals in the last two games and lost both of them and some of the errors we made on Tuesday (a 3-2 League Cup defeat at Burgess Hill) you wouldn’t see schoolboys making.”

Josh Jirbandi and Sam Adams, who missed that game because of flu, should return while Antonio Gonnella is also back after he was rested. Danny Spice serves a one-match ban.
