Burgess Hill boss Gary Croydon says his relegation threatened players are “unfit and poorly motivated.”
Hill have a vital home game against fellow strugglers Corinthian-Casuals tomorrow and Croydon has slammed former boss Jamie Howell who was sacked two weeks ago.
He said: “It is obviously a big game and I am desperately trying to get fresh faces in because I have never picked up a bunch of players who are in such a poor state. They are unfit and poorly motivated.
“The previously incumbent only coached the players but you have to be fit in the first place.
“They are unmotivated because the situation was allowed to deteriorate by the previous incumbent.”
Croydon has signed former Crowborough striker Wes Tate in an attempt to add extra firepower and he will partner Steve Harper up front tomorrow.
Leo Day has also returned to the club.
Croydon added: “The club and supporters do not deserve to be in this position yet we are.
“We will be working very hard not to get relegated but I will have to change things as some of these players are not capable of digging us out of the situation we are in.”
Croydon added: “It’s not a must win game as there are plenty of points to play for after this game.
“But it is a home game and represents a chance to win a football match and it is a must-not-lose game – there’s a big difference.”
