Justin Rosenberg is delivering both on and off the pitch for Hellingly.

The teenage New Zealander followed up an opening day knock of 88 with a century as Hellingly recorded their first win of the season with a seven-wicket success at Uckfield in Sussex League division three east.

Rosenberg is combining his summer stay in Sussex with some work delivering milk and captain Steve Hook believes he has the cream of the crop with his new arrival.

Hook said: “An email went round all the Sussex League clubs from a New Zealand player called Kirk Bunting who wanted to play over here but I didn’t do anything about it.

“I eventually emailed his mum who said he had a club but she passed my email around the Auckland Academy and Justin was quick off the mark to get in touch.

“I am a farmer and he is helping out on the farm and delivering milk for me. He is also coaching the youngsters at the club. He has fitted in fantastically well at all levels.”

Rosenberg is only 18 and he joins a young bowling attack at Hellingly. Luke Smith, 19, took 5-70 as Uckfield posted 225-9, while David Twine took 3-64 and fellow 16-year-old Daniel Pellett also bowled well, with his first four overs being maidens.

Peter Holman hit 48 for Uckfield and Kevin Morton 46 but Hellingly raced to victory with Rosenberg scoring 127 not out, including 16 fours and four sixes, Ian Rippengal 37 and Paul McDonald 27 not out.

Ansty, Keymer and Hassocks and Seaford all have maximum points after two games in the east division.

Skipper John Price hit 51 not out to lead Keymer and Hassocks to a nine-wicket win at Burgess Hill who were bowled out for 102 with Andy Westgate claiming 6-48 and Michael Poole 4-20. Luke Vick hit a defiant 51 for the hosts.

Ansty dismissed Crawley for 169 with Glen Anson taking 5-55, then Leo Anderson cracked 81 not out to lead them to a five-wicket win.

Adam Kneller (59) and captain Nick Pink (57) helped Seaford set 216 all out at home to Lindfield, who were rolled over for 105 in reply with Aaron Yeoman taking 3-14.

Relegated Sidley were seven-wicket winners at Chiddingly, who made 222-9 declared with David Earl scoring 130 as Scott Woodruff claimed six wickets.

Woodruff then made 55 not out and Peter King 91 not out as Sidley chased down their target with seven wickets to spare.

Bognor Regis are the early leaders in the west division after a comfortable seven-wicket win at Goring, who were bowled out for 97.

Billingshurst have also won their first two games, the latest being an eight-wicket triumph at home to Pagham.

Replying to the visitors’195-9 declared, Billingshurst knocked off the runs with Billy Harris hitting 86 and Barbadian Carleon Brome 84 not out.

Findon were held to a draw by Arundel after making 248-7 declared with 90 from Andy Boxall and 76 from Mickey Demetriou. Arundel reached 205-7 at stumps with 117 not out from Rohan Ardley.

Chris Crampton made 65 for Henfield in their total of 181 at home to Slinfold and that was enough to give them a 38-run victory with Slinfold tumbling to 143 all out in reply.

Steyning were frustrated at home to Ifield who reached stumps at 188-9 with 60 from Graham Dean.

The home side had posted 238-6 declared with 56 not out from Gary Hunt, 52 from Mike Sewell and 50 from Bill Buckley.
