Victorious skipper Lloyd Jenkins has revealed he led Brighton Blues to Twickenham glory with a broken wrist.

Jenkins played in pain from about the 15-minute mark and was there at the end of the Blues’ 32-20 win over Liskeard-Looe in the EDF Junior Vase final.

He only found out the full extent of the damage when the pain spoiled his night out partying.

The 25-year-old flanker said: “I think I fell on it awkwardly and the bone went the wrong way. I knew I had done something but the adrenalin kept me going and I didn’t really feel it.

“I was going out with the boys after the game whatever happened, so I got it strapped up, but it stull hurt so I went to A and E at about midnight.”

Jenkins is now in plaster and laid up from his job in building and roofing.

But he still rejoined his team mates as the party continued at Waterhall on Sunday afternoon.

He added: “I’m just glad I didn’t do it in the semi-final.”
