Crawley gave a full debut to former Southend youngster Peggy Lokando away to Gateshead today.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who began his career as an Arsenal junior, came on as a substitute in the midweek win at home to Salisbury.

Manager Steve Evans was missing six senior players from his small squad and had only one fit striker, Charles Ademeno.

The Reds were without suspended pair Barry Cogan and skipper Adam Quinn along with Chris Giles (hamstring), Sam Rents (ankle), Calum Willock (knee) and Danny Forrest (hamstring).

Evans was so short of numbers that he named assistant boss Paul Raynor on an otherwise extremely young looking bench.

Gateshead included former Crawley striker Daryl Clare but fellow frontman Jon Shaw, who had a spell on loan with the Reds last season, missed out on his debut due to injury.
