Worthing Thunder are turning their home court into a fortress in their quest for a BBL play-off spot.

They scored a fourth succesive home win, and sixth out of nine in all, by beating Cheshire Jets 104-94.

Top scorer Reggie Bratton had 16 points in the first five minutes as Thunder raced into a 23-9 lead.

Brattton finished with 28 points and made ten of 11 free throws on a night when both sides were on good form from the line.

Thunder shot 24 of 27 while Cheshire hit 17 of 19.

The hosts won the rebound count 45-30, including 11 for Kadiri Richard to go with his 15 points.

Thunder were always on top, though they suffered a fourth-quarter scare when a ten-point lead was whittled down to two.

Bratton set up an alley-oop for Richard to settle any nerves.

Thunder assistant coach Alan Sweetman-Hicks said: β€œIt was another good performance. We took control early and, although Cheshire got back into it, in the end our extra strength in depth carried us through.”

Ville Makalainen had 17 points for Worthing, Evaldas Zabas added 15 and Sherrad Prezzie-Blue went four-of-five from three-point range in his 14.

Former Worthing Bears favourite James Hamilton rolled back the years to lead Cheshire with 29 points and nine rebounds.

The result keeps Thunder in the thick of the battle for a top-eight finish ahead of home clashes with Plymouth next Saturday and Newcastle in a re-arranged fixture on January 16.
