One team at most will be relegated from County League division one this season as the impact of the new ground grading requirements take effect.

Every senior club in the league has undergone a second ground inspection to see if they meet the Football Association’s stringent new facilities criteria.

Those requirements include 100 seats, covered accommodation for 200 people and a fully enclosed ground with hard-standing path on three sides.

Following the inspections, nine current division one clubs have been deemed ‘unclassified’ which means they do not currently have the facilities to play in division one and could therefore be relegated.

However, three of the four sides battling it out for promotion from division two do not meet the requirements to go up and if Sidley finish outside the top three that means no team will come down from division one.

Only teams graded as ‘unclassified’ could go down which means the likes of East Grinstead, Pagham, Arundel and Crowborough are no longer fighting a relegation battle.
