Brighton and Hove skipper Simon Turner insists the Sussex Cup remains special for his club.

So much so that Turner is coming back from his summer home in France especially for Sunday’s final against Eastbourne at Worthing.

Brighton have appeared in nine of the last ten finals and have traditionally taken a large following to cheer them on each year.

Turner, 29, has moved to Paris for the summer with his French girlfriend, although he will return to England in the autumn.

It sounds idyllic but not enough to keep Turner away from St Andrew’s School, Worthing, on Sunday.

He said: “I am coming back especially for this. I am really looking forward to it.

“We have done pretty well in the Sussex Cup for the last few years and we were bitterly disappointed not to win it last year.

“We would love to put that right on Sunday, especially after the season we have had. The guys have worked really hard and we deserve some silverware for the progress we have made this year."
