Worthing Thunder have confirmed Gary Smith is back for a second stint as head coach.
Smith’s return to the club was delayed by illness but he takes charge as Thunder visit Guildford in the league on Saturday, then host Worcester in the BBL Cup on Sunday (5pm).
He has received clearance from University of Chichester, where he was due to coach this season.
Smith will take charge of a squad missing star guard Evaldas Zabas, whose move to Plymouth Raiders went through yesterday after the two clubs agreed compensation.
Zabas' departure will accelerate Thunder's hunt for an American point guard.
Sherrad Prezzie-Blue is being linked with a return to the club but Thunder today confirmed no deal has been done and Smith has a short list of potential signings.
