Hstings United boss Nigel Kane insists his side have turned the corner.

United stunned leaders Dartford 2-0 with first half goals from Lee Carey and Ade Olorunda to climb off the bottom. It followed an emphatic FA Cup victory at Merstham last week.

The victories followed four straight defeats that provoked calls for Kane's head.

But the Pilot Field boss goes into tomorrow's Westview Cup clash at AFC Wimbledon confident of completing a hat-trick of away wins.

He said: "The momentum is swinging our way.

"We've stopped the rot and the tide is beginning to turn. The Merstham win was a boost to me, the fans and the chairman and we carried it on at Dartford.

"I always knew we were in a false position at the bottom of the table. Football fans can be fickle and whoever called for me to be sacked will be eating their words."

Carey, who netted twice against Merstham, drove home the first on 16 minutes. Olorunda headed the second after Russell Eldridge had flicked on a cross on 30 minutes.

Goalkeeper Will Toal made his debut for Kane with Matt Bromby having left the club by mutual consent.

Burgess Hill boss Gary Croydon says he will continue his search for an "experienced head to pull us together" after his rookie outfit lost 3-1 at Ashford Town with former Albion trainee Ashley Jarvis their lone scorer.

Croydon said: "We have eight players who are under 20 and they played well. Our midfield of Neil Wilson, Lloyd Cotton and Kevin Joyce are among them and put in good performances. We must have created four five clearcut chances but we need someone with an experienced head to pull us together."
