World record holder Gemma Spofforth has announced her retirement from swimming.
The 24-year-old Shoreham-born Olympian – the 100m backstroke world record holder – will make her decision official next week when she submits retirement papers to domestic and international federations.
Spofforth came fifth in the 100 backstroke final at London 2012 .
