Queen Camilla is coming to Sussex.
The Queen is no stranger to the county as she grew up in Plumpton and was baptised in Firle Church.
She was in the county in 2021, when she was invited by Brighton-born author Peter James to visit the set of ITV show Grace in Shoreham Port.
She will be back on Thursday, when she will be visiting Rye.
Queen Camilla will visit the Church of Saint Mary and meet representatives from local organisations who have supported their community.
These include the Royal Voluntary Service of which Camilla is a patron, Mothers’ Union, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Royal British Legion. She will also meet the bell ringers.
After a brief tour of the house, Camilla will view items relating to literature from the house's historic collection.
She will join a garden party with organisations in celebration of Rye’s renowned literary history.
Guests will include members of the Friends of Tilling, the E F Benson Society and staff and volunteers from the National Trust. During the garden party, Gyles Brandreth, president of the Friends of Tilling, will give a reading from the Mapp and Lucia novels in celebration of Rye’s literary history.
Camilla was all smiles during her last visit to Sussex as she had the opportunity to sit in the Grace producer's chair to watch a scene being filmed for Dead Tomorrow in Shoreham.
She was also joined in the production tent by Huw Kennair-Jones, drama commissioner for ITV, and John Simm, who plays DS Roy Grace.
Camilla looked delighted to see one of her favourite books come to life on the screen in front of her.
She watched as DS Glen Branson, who is played by Richie Campbell, visited Shoreham Port as he searched for clues.
The Queen even told Peter James that she would “like a cameo role one day”.
She was also visiting for her Reading Room scheme which is an Instagram community for book lovers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
