Full houses for 2014 partying in Brighton and Hove
Hospitality managers are gearing up to cash in on the feelgood factor as revellers get ready to party tonight.
A survey by Travelodge found 69% of adults in Brighton and Hove are planning to bring in 2014 with a celebration tonight.
The survey of 173 people in the city also found that 42% of people are heading into the New Year in a more positive frame of mind than at any point in the past five years.

Managers at the Hotel du Vin in Ship Street are so confident that their customers are in the party spirit they are organising not one but two events tonight.
Event organiser Stephanie Ryan said the hotel’s £129-a-ticket black tie event in the main restaurant is sold out.
She said: “We are also holding an event in the Dome Room at £85 per person and that is selling well.”
Craig Cooke, manager at The Loft, said the city’s reputation as a party town helps to pull in the punters.
He said: “Brighton is known for its music scene which really helps.
“This year we have Disco Deviant which should prove popular. We’re hoping for a full house.”
Fergus Bright, manager at The Brunswick pub in Holland Road, said the festive period has been busy at the pub and he expects the trend to continue.
He said: “We are holding a New Year’s Eve garden party and we expect around 350 people. It should be a good night.”
Travelodge said its hotels in Brighton are almost completely full.
Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge spokeswoman, said: “It’s very encouraging to see people being optimistic about their future and welcoming 2014 in a celebratory style.
“As a result of this optimistic outlook we have experienced double digit growth in NewYear’s Eve bookings compared to last year.”
