Crack and heroin dealer Leon Reid jailed for six years

The Argus: DEALER: Leon Reid DEALER: Leon Reid

A crack and heroin dealer who told police another crook had accidentally left drugs paraphenalia in his car has been jailed for six years.

Leon Reid, 27, was found guilty of possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply after a three day trial at Brighton Crown Court.

Reid, of Hayes, Middlesex, was arrested in July after a vehicle was stopped which had been seen to have been involved in a drug deal in Buckingham Road, Brighton.

A search of the car recovered £600 worth of both heroin and crack cocaine, more than £3,000 in cash and assorted mobile phones containing evidence of drug dealing.

He told the court that he had had a recent argument with his girlfriend in London and that he had stolen her car and driven it to Brighton.

Upon arrival he claimed that he had then met a dealer who supplied him the drugs.

He also claimed that the same dealer must have accidentally left two phones containing drug dealing texts within the car.

Reid had originally stated the crack cocaine and heroin were for his personal use, despite the fact that there was no evidence that he was a user of class A drugs.

Detective Constable Mark Pinder, who led the investigation, said: "This is a great result against a drug dealer who had simply lied his way through the whole investigation.

"The investigation team worked hard to ensure that the evidence was clear court result serves as a reminder to drug dealers who come to Brighton that they will be found, arrested and sent to prison. He is one more drug dealer off our streets."

Great piece of Police work just a shame, that as usual, the Court system doesn't back them up and jail these pedlars of despair and misery more worth while sentences. 6 years, so he's out in 3 to start all over again.

So true, but your accurate comments might rile the noisy minority who are more bothered about patrolling for views like yours, than the real misery on the streets proliferated by vermin like Reid. Good to see one more caught and off the streets.

I always found the 'non-user' drug dealer far more reliable plus they tended to serve up proper weights. Can't see anything wrong in drug dealing, its my choice to use or not. I thought half you morons would love a capitalist entrepreneur like Leon.

Poor old Tykemison you really are a bitter old racist c**t.

It is good he's off the streets, but we've got to sort out society to solve the problem forvever. We have a famous and respected TV personality Nigella Lawson admitting use of class A drugs, and nothing is said about it. If drugs are so widespread now, and I think they are, might as well stop trying to jail people like this dealer.

Personnally I'm happy he's off the streets (dealers prey on vulnerable people), but I don't don't see the need for the racist angle to ykemison's comment. Also, seems like as well as being a rubbish drug-dealer Mr Reid is also the worlds worst liar.

Nigella admitted to cocaine use not crack cocaine use.....difference being that she could afford to buy it and doesn't have to rob or burgle people to pay for it.
Not saying it's right, but crack and heroin dealers deserve far greater sentences !!

Considering the fact that the Green Party Council and MP set up a consultative body (which we taxpayers may still be paying for) to look at the feasability of setting up 'shooting galleries' for drug users is it any wonder that drug dealers feel welcome in the City.
