A BRIGHTON mum is set to battle it out in this year’s Great British Bake Off.

Trained actress Kate, who lives with her five-year-old daughter Eloise, is one of the 12 bakers to take part in the hit BBC programme starting on August 6.

The 41-year-old performed as an actress on stage for a couple of years before working in advertising and design agencies.

After moving to Brighton to bring her daughter up, she started her own upholstery company, which she runs from home.

Described on the BBC website as “sparky and full of beans”, her past creations include a life-sized Goldfinger Bond girl cake.

She describes cakes as her strongest area and pastry her weakest.

She also said that she rarely uses measuring equipment.

The BBC show features amateur bakers competing in a number of challenges with one contestant eliminated each week.

Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry are the judges who taste the creations and decide who goes each week.

Asked which of the two is the scarier, she said: “They both have their moments”.
