GOOD Samaritans who helped a woman after she was raped at a party could hold the key to a police investigation.

A 26-year-old Shoreham woman was attacked at a party by a man she knew in Queen Street, Worthing, on January 16.

She left the party and managed to hitch a lift with two men and was dropped off near the Bridge Inn in Shoreham. Later she returned to Worthing and got into a taxi with a man she met while she was waiting at a bus stop in Shoreham and they travelled to Worthing together, She reported the rape the next day and a 32-year-old Worthing man has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He has been released on bail until March 22 while investigations continue.

Detective constable Chris Bishop said: "We would like to speak to the men who picked up the woman in Worthing and drove her to Shoreham and the man she caught a taxi with back to Worthing. We believe he may have been called Naz. They kindly helped this woman and they may be able to help us with our investigation. The men in the car would have picked her up some time after 10pm on Worthing seafront and she would have caught the taxi back with the other man around half past midnight. We urge them to get it touch."
