The Big Splash 2010
Celebrations took a step back in time at the annual party to celebrate the end of the Brighton Festival. The Big Splash took place at Brighton Marina today and crowds enjoyed cloudless skies on one of the hottest days of the year so far, as different events took place around them. The free day of family fun went back to the 1950s, with Brighton-based The Doo-Wop Girls entertaining people while giant Elvises and teddy boys walked about on stilts. There were also hands-on activities to keep children amused and parkour displays, the art of moving through space and bending the rules of physics, by Urban Playground and Gravity Style. Jive dancing demonstrations also took place and the music of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin could be heard as the performer moved around the square and boardwalk during the afternoon.
