A celebrated designer who dresses Kate Moss and Lady Gaga is sending chills through the fashion world after teaming up with a horror author.

Jess Eaton, based in Brighton, handmade a dazzling costume to bring the star of best-selling author Michael Grant’s Messenger of Fear novel to life in an extraordinary campaign.

The bold designer is famous for her dark and controversial work and jumped at the chance to create a couture outfit for Grant’s eerie anti-hero in a new film adaption.

Jess said: “Michael and I share a passion for the dark, twisted and original.

“This was such an exciting and different concept, that I just had to get involved.

“The Messenger of Fear character is mysterious, terrifying and beautiful with a huge presence - all of the traits I love to incorporate into my work.

“And I loved the challenge of telling his story through beautifully- crafted, couture clothes and jewellery, which pay close attention to the book, but with beautiful and intricate twists to ensure the pieces are worthy of such a cool and powerful character.”

Jess has created a ‘sophisticated emo’ jacket and jewellery worn by the book’s character, adorned with curious bear, spear and wave symbols or faces, contorted in “unimaginable terror”.

She designed, cast and polished the trademark, skull- shaped buttons embellishing the striking, calf-length coat.

The designer rocketed to fame with her Roadkill Couture label, which gives the remains of ethically- sourced animals - including deer, seagulls, alpacas, horses and even humans a new lease of life, turning them into stunning jewellery, clothing and accessories.

She captured the imagination of the fashion world and beyond, by creating beautiful work from materials that died naturally and would otherwise be left to decay.

The former-vegetarian created handbags and accessories made from her own skin, worn by stuffed animals in an exhibition, as well as jewellery made from human bones.
