THE LAST week has been a hectic one even by the usual autumn standards. On Tuesday we had the chamber’s construction voice event, where the merits of high-rise flats were debated as a solution to the city’s housing crisis.

On Wednesday CineCity Brighton Film Festival launched at Duke’s at Komedia.

Then it was on to Hotel du Vin where friends, partners and customers of The Argus heard about the business behind the newspaper – and the incredible milestone of one million unique web users a months.

Not to mention the Community Star Awards which celebrated the businesspeople really making a difference.

But enough about last week – what’s going on in Business Matters today?

  1. Another event that had a big pull was TEDxBrighton. Some of the world’s best thinkers shared a platform with some world-class speakers of our own, covering everything from truffle-hunting, crime-writing, block-building and frog-protecting.
  2. Iconic North Laine fashion store Ju-Ju celebrated its 20th birthday “against all odds”.
  3. Big employers have discussed the “dramatic change” in productivity as a result of joining a knowledge transfer parternship with the University of Brighton.
  4. Millions of people suffer food allergies and struggle to find restaurants that meet their needs. A new app by a Seaford woman hopes to bring those miseries to an end.
