A PUB will close for a week for the completion of a £104,000 makeover.

The Victoria in Portslade will close for a week from today for the completion of a six-week makeover funded by the owners of the premises Punch Taverns.

Hove MP Mike Weatherley is among the VIPs invited for a sneak preview of the revamp when the doors are reopened next Thursday.

Locals will get the chance to check out the new surroundings a day later at a karaoke disco a day later followed by a grand reopening celebration on Saturday March 28.

Regulars asked for a Grease-themed party night for the main relaunch, so publican Zena Ives is laying on a Grease soundtrack and a free buffet from 8.30pm.

The Pubco said that the refurbishment will give regulars a brighter pub, with new furnishings and a revamped patio beer garden as well as three new TV screens tobring the bar’s total to seven.

The pub also hopes to run a new quiz night from next month alongside the Great British Pub Quiz.
