VINYL mad music fans lined up round the block to nab the latest releases on Record Store Day.

Thousands of enthusiasts queued up outside Resident Records in Brighton, for the worldwide celebration on Saturday.

Dedicated fans aiming to snag exclusive one day releases were treated to a performance from Irish singer songwriter Hannah Peel who performed with a music box at the shop in Kensington Gardens where DJs Lauren Laverne and Norman Cook had appeared the day before.

Nine record stores across Sussex - in Brighton and Hove, Eastbourne, Bexhill, East Grinstead and Lewes all marked the occasion.

The event is on the forefront of the vinyl revival, with an aim to celebrate record stores as part of music culture.

Throughout last year music lovers purchased more than 2.2 million records, as compared to just 226,000 in 2008.
