AROUND 400 business people will come together on Friday at the Brighton Summit to talk about what they really want for their business.

Run by the Brighton Chamber of Commerce, the summit is a business conference with a focus on practical learning, thought-provoking inspiration and fun.

The theme is desire because every business starts with desire. It is desire (for a better life, for money, for something meaningful) that makes people want to start and grow businesses.

With that in mind, the Chamber team has put together a programme for the day that takes attendees on a journey to explore their own business desires.

The day begins and ends with three keynote speakers, all business leaders with strong links to our local economy and fascinating stories to tell.

For the rest of the day, attendees can choose the sessions that will benefit them and their business the most.

Expert workshops are a chance to gain skills and pick up tools that can be used in business from the very next day.

Choices include a session on creating a vision, a session on the science of goal-setting and one on how to become a productivity ninja. Panel discussion sessions offer the chance to speak in depth with some of our city’s most successful entrepreneurs.

They include a session on the power of our mindset, one on making difficult decisions and one on sharing a vision with others.

There’s plenty of focused work at the summit but there’s also lots of fun, especially in the Desire Hour.

This is a chance to step outside the ordinary and take on a challenge or do something different.

It includes a viewing at the Duke of York cinema, a session on virtual reality, a dance lesson and a yoga class.

The day will be fuelled by local food producers including Spade and Spoon, Sugardough and YouJuice. Bison Beer and Brighton Gin will keep the party going after-hours.

Brighton Chamber of Commerce director Sarah Springford said: "We’ve sold more tickets this year than before because the summit is now known for being a brilliant and unique event.

"Businesses value hearing from others running businesses who are willing to share what they have learnt along the way. That’s what the Brighton Summit is all about."

The event is on Friday October 14 from 8.30am until 5.30pm at The Clarendon Centre. The last few tickets are available now at brightonsummit.com
