A 300-year-old pub is beginning a new chapter under new ownership.
The Welldiggers outside Petworth changed hands two years ago following the death of much-loved landlord Ted Whitcomb who was famous for his support for the local hunting, fishing and horse racing fraternity.
Subsequent to a major refurbishment with the addition of a restaurant and letting accommodation, the 300-year-old hostelry has now been sold again, to Cirrus Inns which also owns the Old House in Copthorne.
Kate Dowd of agents Fleurets said: “We originally sold the Welldiggers for the Whitcomb family and the new owners, following the refurbishment, created an exceptional business continuing its former reputation and success.
"Cirrus Inns will undoubtedly build on this and secure continued success at the site for future generations.”
