A POPULAR pub and restaurant has reopened after a two-week revamp.

The Sportsman – formerly a Crown Carvery – is located at the Withdean Stadium on Tongdean Lane, Brighton.

It has been relaunched as a Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery and the owners say they have invested heavily in the new venture.

The company – Mitchells and Butlers – also owns The Saltdean Tavern in Saltdean Park Road, Saltdean.

General manager Matthew Johnson, said: “We’re excited about the new changes and are looking forward to welcoming the people of Brighton and surrounding area to come and see what this is all about.

“The restaurant has been given a fantastic new look and a menu that we believe has something for everyone.

“When you eat with us you can put on the plate exactly what you want, creating your meal, your choice, your way.

“We’re a real part of the local community and are looking to support local charities, projects and host a variety of events and activities that everyone can enjoy.

“When you next pop in for a meal, or spend quality time with family and friends, be sure to ask us about what’s coming up..”

Mr Johnson said the charity element is important to a local business supporting the community.

He said: “Your community is our community and you can help us choose which charities to raise money for when you eat and drink with us.

“Even better, if you work with a local charity, or know of one that could do with our support, please tell us and we’ll be delighted to let you know how to become a nominated local charity.”

He said that discounts are available for armed forces staff and emergency crews.

The pub is also serving roast dinner takeaways.
