Bevendean Tenants Association

12:13pm Sunday 4th December 2011

Well the end of a tough year for many is drawing in and here’s hoping for some Xmas Cheer for you all and a mild winter! OK, a little snow makes things pretty, as long as it doesn’t hang around too long. Assurances have been given that lessons have been learned and we will not have to endure being cut off from the rest of Brighton as grit bins are full & ready, or will be. Much has happened in regards to Council housing this year. We have seen, at long last, new doors (where needed) and also the start of work on kitchens and bathrooms. It was always the case that you’d get one or the other, if they failed the ‘set standard’ however, what was not so well known is that BOTH your kitchen and bathroom had to fail the standard for you to qualify for a new kitchen OR bathroom. We would be interested to hear about work done, be it good or not so good. Our next Tenants meeting is on Wednesday 25th January 2012 and we will be taking ideas for projects for funding from the Estate Development Fund. This fund is for projects that tenants suggest and must be for the benefit of council tenants or the estate in general. This year our main project was for gates at the Leybourne Parade shops and these gates are very much in line with this award winning project. It would be nice to find another high profile project that benefits many, whilst we still bid for smaller things, like the ever popular garden fencing.
