A lack of funding means St Anne’s Well Garden, Hove, may not be able to continue its streak of 12 consecutive Green Flag awards as areas of it become neglected. More funding is needed before plans to replant areas of the scented garden in the park can go ahead. The Friends of St Anne’s Well Garden, which was set up last year on the garden’s centenary, are driving the campaign to raise money for the renovations and are hoping to raise £10,000 from the Big Lottery, the Co-operative Community Fund and other sources.

Devotees of the Krishna Consciousness movement pulled a chariot bearing models of Hindu deity Krishna, and his brothers and sister along Hove Lawns on Saturday. The event commemorates the teaching that, 5,000 years ago, villagers tried to drag the living Krishna away from his royal court, and back to the intimate relationship he had once enjoyed with them as a child.

If you are looking for a new experience, are interested or just curious in the spiritual and possess an open mind, then this coming Sunday’s ‘Spirit of the Millennium Festival 2009’ could just be the thing for you. Billed as “The Feel Good Festival”, the event takes place at Hove Town Hall between 10.30am and 7.30pm. Admission is £2.50 (free for children under 12) and all proceeds go to the Brighthelm Healing Trust. The Brighthelm Healing Trust are a non-profit making charitable trust that promotes spiritual healing in Sussex.

Under a blazing 4th of July sun, Heather Mills re-opened the much-loved Café at Hove Lagoon with a speech from its rooftop. Renamed VBites and extensively and elegantly renovated inside to reflect a smart casual and very relaxed ambience, the menu is entirely vegan. Burgers, chips, cappuccinos, cupcakes and all the usual sort of café fare are offered and in the eating nobody will go “AHRGGGH! It’s not MEAT!!!” and gag. Not going to happen. And nobody will be able to complain about the prices either.

In 1985 The Sackville Trading Estate was created out of the old Hove Station goods yard by Linkwood (a local firm)and a company from Crawley. It got a design award from Hove Borough Council. Now, the time has come for the redevelopment to itself be redeveloped.
