Budget 2014: The view from Portslade

George Osborne has delivered the 2014 budget calling it “a budget for makers, doers and savers”.

An overhaul of the pensions system, a higher rate for tax free savings and a penny off a pint were some of the measures included in the budget on Wednesday, March 19.

So, what did people out and about in Portslade think about it?

Mike Mills, 66, Palmeira Square, Hove “There were some good bits in the budget.

"It’s good for people with pensions, people with savings and for first time buyers.

"I do think it was an election budget though.”

Rosie Byford

Rosie Byford, 18, Mile Oak “I don’t really know that much about it.

"I heard there will be a penny off a pint.

"It won’t make much difference to me.”

Charlene Wickenden, 36, Portslade “I heard about the penny off a pint– that’s not going to make any difference.

"To be honest I’m indifferent as we get robbed no matter what.”
