Saqlain Mushtaq is out of Sussex's Championship decider against Worcestershire today.

The former Pakistan off-spinner, 30, is suffering from a knee injury sustained in last week's defeat by Durham.

Ollie Rayner will take his place in a game the county have to win if they are to overhaul Lancashire and retain their title. It will be off-spinner Rayner's first Championship appearance of the season.

The last seamer's place is between Chris Liddle and Ragheb Aga while skipper Chris Adams will leave it until the last moment before deciding if he is fit after suffering a finger injury on Sunday which required five stitches.

Adams believes Sussex have made progress this season, even if they fail to retain the Championship.

He said: "We could have done with a bit more luck in terms of injuries but I deal first and foremost in what you can control.

"We can't control what other teams are doing but if we have a good week and some of the youngsters who are going to get an opportunity come to the party and events go right for us at the Oval then who knows - we could be celebrating again."
