A charity football match featuring a former England manager raised almost £2,000.

Peter Taylor, former England and Brighton and Hove Albion manager, took part in the seventh annual Robert Eaton Memorial Fund (REMF) match.

The match, between supporters of Albion and arch-rivals Crystal Palace, is played in memory of Robert, a devoted Albion supporter who died in the September 11 attacks.

The Albion team won on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Lewes Football Club on Friday.

Other special guest players included 1970's Albion forward Ricky Marlowe.

The man of the match, chosen by Albion legend Ian Chapman, was The Argus reporter Simon Barrett.

The proceeds from the night go to the fund that was set up in Robert's name to support youth football in Sussex, Croydon and New York.
