Stunning, captivating, intriguing. In a twist of travesty we were the only two people to witness the pure brilliance of one man show Submission on Tuesday night.

The dark comedy expertly provoked genuine laughter whilst taking you a journey of harrowing proportions.

Exploring isolation and mental health we met a young man trapped in a room for so long he appeared to have lost his mind. What ensued was an almost perfectly performed internal battle, where the young prisoner was tormented by a young bullying version of himself.

Through expert acting the two sides of his psyche were powerfully defined and quickly interchanged. One side was animalistic, weak and crazy. The other was confident, teasing and cocksure. But which was the true young man?

Unfazed by the room full of empty seats actor Kyle Miley set about the 40 minute piece with ease, pulling us into the story and away from our echoing surroundings.

The brutal lesson of Fringe season is prospective audience members have to take a gamble. You might end up watching pure twaddle. But take the gamble and, like with Submission, you might find yourself witnessing artistic brilliance.
