Green Door Store hosted a triumphant homecoming gig for the Kins.
The band have been away from Brighton for more than a year gigging in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and St Louis not to mention Germany and Holland – but were happy to take the chance to play to their home fans in Brighton.
In case you’ve missed them when they were last regulars on the Brighton scene, this is a totally original band.
Set up by Australian lead singer and guitarist, Tom Savage and backed by the driving force of fellow Australian drummer/ vocalist Alex Knight, the band are a unique blend of driving drums and bass mixed in with some evocative and androgynous vocals and guitar.
Take Metallica, Pink Floyd and mix it into a big booming sound and top it with some alto tenor vocals, keyboards and you have the ingredients for an unforgettable evening.
Highlight of the night was the catchy and emotional rendition of their latest release Young closely followed by the classic favourite Fist.
Judging by the enthusiastic turn out of their home support, they have been missed during their absence from the south coast.
