The Connecticut based emo-post-rock outfit fed off the hyped crowd, as their window-shattering soundscapes were met by eager ears.

As each of the eight members prepared themselves on the crammed stage, an equally tight-knit audience were left pondering just how, with two LPs and a strong, niche British following to their name, this was the band’s first ever UK headline tour.

The group wasted no time introducing themselves, kicking off a hugely dynamic set with an immediate wall of sound, driven by the four guitarists.

Emo influences shone through as palm-muted intersections took over, allowing frontman, David Bello to shout heartfelt lyrics through a thick mop of hair.

Keyboard player, Katie Shanholtzer-Dvorak’s dreamy vocals responded subtly to Bello’s emotional cries during January 10th, 2014, before a huge, blistering interlude began to build.

Riffs grew to an almost unrecognisable level, pleasing the growing moshpit of ecstatic super-fans, who demanded an encore, which seemed to take even the band by surprise.

The seamless transitions between tracks apparent on the group’s releases would have been the icing on the cake for a performance which, sonically, ticked all the boxes and left ears aggressively ringing.
