A COMEDIAN was forced to cancel a gig after travelling to a venue 150 miles from where he was due to perform.

Seann Walsh, who grew up in Brighton, was meant to appear at the Hertford Theatre – in Hertford about 45 minutes north of London by train - on Sunday evening (28/9).

But instead he arrived at Hereford, on the other side of the country near the Welsh border, only realising his mistake when he arrived at the train station.

He took to Twitter to apologise to fans.

The 27-year-old said: "Hertford! I regret to inform you that tonight's show is cancelled due to me arriving in Hereford, near Wales. I am so sorry. Please feel free to tweet me abuse!"

Walsh then posted a series of tweets about his unexpected night, including how it would take him four hours to get home, only for his train to then be cancelled.

He said: "It is now taking me over four hours to get home. The gig was 45 mins [sic] away. I deserve this. If it makes you feel any better my train home is cancelled."

He posted a photo of a vending machine and said: "Just having a look at the menu for dinner", before tweeting a photo from Newport and saying: "Still enough time to let you know I am now further away from my home than I was when I was in HerEford [sic]."

Walsh added: "I'd just like to apologise again to HerTford [sic]. Sorry."

Fans were quick to poke fun at the comic's questionable geography knowledge.

Peter Bellamy said: "Reminds me of you arriving late for the Brighton Comedy gala a couple of years ago after you got on the wrong train."

And Shaun Weager said: "This is also like when you went to the wrong Hayes."

But Emma Smith said: "Thanks for letting me have my husband back tonight. He's a tech at Hertford Theatre."

When Walsh eventually made it home he apologised again and pretended to get last night’s venue, at Norwich University, mixed up with Ipswich.
