The inaugural Little Monsters Bash was blessed with bright sunshine on Saturday and, despite a few 'dark clouds' when it came to value for money, it was a lovely day of sunny family fun.
With a range of areas on offer, children could choose from activities including cooking, dancing, crafts, sport or, for the younger monsters, a sensory area where soft play, singing and yoga were going on throughout the day.
The main stage showcased the varying talents of children's telly favourites Dick and Dom, The Octonauts, plus I Can Cook's Katy Ashworth, joined by a 12-piece soul band.
Although it sounds jam-packed, the reality felt a little sparse in the grounds of Stanmer Park. While good for little legs to be running around in wide open spaces, there were several parents overheard lamenting the price of the tickets when compared with what was on offer. At £22.50 per person, or £65 for a family ticket, it had a large price tag to live up to and many felt the added costs of parking and refreshments were somewhat unwelcome.
It was, however, the first year this fun mini-festival was held, so perhaps next year it will grow at the same rapid rate as the children attending.
