A room full of wannabe Whitney Houston’s belting out the lyrics to The Greatest Love Of All is a nightmare vision to many people.

But it was clear the audience at this Whitney tribute show were having the time of their lives reliving the disco nights of their youth.

Soul diva Whitney had a stellar career spanning over 25 years with a string of number one hits which ended at just 48 in 2012 following a long battle with drugs.

The show, fronted by singer Rebecca Freckleton is a race through Whitney’s many greatest hits. Gorgeous with a fantastic voice, Freckleton ably reproduces Ms Houston’s tracks such as I Wanna Dance With Somebody, I Will Always Love You and How Will I Know?

Unfortunately for a feel-good show like this, things got a bit fraught in the stalls with a few parties of tanked-up party women chatting and singing karaoke style throughout the show upsetting those who wanted to listen, a difficult balance in a small theatre.

By the end though, the sheer fun of celebrating Whitney’s classic ballads and disco tracks took over with the entire audience on their feet joyfully singing at the top of their voices.

A fun night out.
