A satirical comedy show is slave to topical news and October/November 2015 was clearly bristling with political targets.
Sebastian Coe and the Russian doping scandal – Putin: 'Yes, kill him!'; sanitary towel taxation – Tampons Are A Girl's Best Friend; and the latest Bond movie – Sphincter.
Then there was the local seasonal theme, with Whitehawk featured in the John Lewis ad. The Treason Show has to be bang up to date and some of the material is still wet.
The performances and overall production were outstanding with 30 plus sketches and songs over almost 2 hours.
Mark Brailsford directs, produces and performs – his Rod Stewart Don't Yer Think I'm Sexy (Glaswegian accent) was a piece of exquisitely smutty cabaret.
Sophia Behn and Andrew Armfield made up the cast and were just the job. Daniel Beales also guested on several sparkling monologues.
The pace never flagged and after 15 years The Treason Show maintains it's own high standards with a little help from over 30 writers credited for this show alone.
Clever – Those Drones Those Drones (those dry bones); hard hitting – no limbs, no fee! at maimed.com; but above all fun – For China! For China! The Treason Show is an indispensable part of Brighton's cultural life.
