Remember those classic 1990s anthems Right Here Right Now and International Bright Young Thing?

They were singalong songs about being young and loving it, sung by long-haired skateboard-ish dudes, that everyone bounced along to chanting the chorus like a mantra with that vague feeling of being rebels.

So when Jesus Jones lead singer Mike Edwards appeared in a Superdry T shirt, in a weird way it made sense. Was it irony? No. Was it sponsorship? Probably not, and don't judge a book by its cover.

The Haunt was certainly buzzing, but you could see people were waiting for those melodies to remind them of yesteryear.

Musically the band were good and had energy but it's difficult to recreate that wall of sound youth thing, and confused was the word to describe this gig.

One song started with a classic acid box 303 sound which you wanted to go on and on but it was muffled and muddled when the band kicked in.

Most of the audience enjoyed the anthems but you got the feeling that you knew as little now as you did back then what this band are really about.

If everybody had been as excited about the gig as the keyboard player though, it would have been the best gig ever.
